On the 3rd of June 2004, at the “Trophées Saint-Roch 2004” event, 44 third-year students from the École de la chambre syndicale de la couture parisienne presented their end-of-year show at the Carrousel du Louvre.

The 4 models presented came from a personal collection designed and made by each student, all of whom had created an accessory and a "sport" outfit embroidered with cotton produced by DMC.

Watched by Pierre Cardin, five prizes have been awarded by a jury made up of 12 fashion industry professionals
: Faycal Amor, Lutz, Isabel Marant, Florence Ben Sadoun, Isabelle Peyrut, Nicole Picart, Blandine d’Alton, Serge Carreira, Armand Hadida, Florence Müller, Catherine Rivière, Corinne Vallette.



THE PRIZE-WINNERS


 

HONG BO LI (China)

GRAND PRIZE
.

Hong Bo Li entered the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne (Paris Fashion School) in September 2002 after having earned a Fashion Design Degree from the Dalian University in China. He presented a work on movement and speed though a play of whorls, volume and architecture that was accomplished with a remarkable mastery in the cut.

YOHEI WATANABE (Japan)


PRIZE FOR TECHNICAL EXPERTISE


Yohei Watanabe received this award for a "suit" cut that was very structured, based on a complex combination of two-coloured geometric incrustations. He entered Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne (Paris Fashion School) after having followed a training course at the Kobe Design University in Japan.

 

MARI TAKAHASHI (Japan)

PRIZE FOR TEXTILE RESEARCH


Mari Takahashi developed a fun and colourful concept, proposing a superb work that mixes embroidery, knit, weaving, dyeing and appliqué work. She studied for three years at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne (Paris Fashion School) after having followed an art textile training course for a period of two years.

DOMINIQUE CASPAR (France)


SPÉCIAL DMC PRIZE


Dominique Caspar entered the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne (Paris Fashion School) in 2001 after receiving his Baccalauréat (A-level). This prize awards the metamorphosis of a suit jacket highlighted by an accumulation of pompoms held by a zigzag of front stitch embroidery.

 

FRANCOIS HURTEAU FLAMAND (France)

CREATIVE DMC PRIZE

This award was discerned upon François Hurteau for a dress designed in macramé made from DMC cotton thread, dressed up with mother-of-pearl buttons, worn under a judo kimono jacket whose back was destructured in order to have the effect of a draped bolero. He followed the three-year programme at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne (Paris Fashion School) after a year studying architecture and French painting at the Ecole du Louvre.

DMC, one of the event's prize, created this seasona new prize, teh "Creative DMC Prize", which awards its winner with 1500 euros.

Each prize-winner at the Trophées Saint-Roch 2004 will be offered a 6-month long “further training course”. This year, they will be taken on by Christian Dior, DMC, Givenchy & Hermès.
