The
supervisory board of the Chambre syndicale de la Haute Couture met
on November 17, 2009 and elected the company Josephus Thimister
as new invited member to the Haute Couture calendar of January
2010.

As of next January, Haute Couture houses will officially welcome
the finest makers of Haute Joaillerie into the couture calendar.
This union of two exceptional savoir-faire will create a real “luxury
week” which will start on January 24, 2010.
For this première, Boucheron, Cartier, Chanel Joaillerie,
Chaumet, Christian Dior Joaillerie, Mellerio dits Meller and Van
Cleef & Arpels jewelry houses will show their exclusive products
along with today's great couturiers. These companies will show their
collections by appointment on a day dedicated to their craft, January
28.
A window open uniquely to exclusivity, an absolute partnership of
savoir-faire, the worlds of Haute Couture and Haute Joaillerie will
come together to celebrate exceptional talent for this new luxury
week.

DE MODE
The Chambre Syndicale du Prêt à Porter des Couturiers
et des Créateurs de Mode held its annual meeting at the Bristol
Hotel on November 3, 2009. The subsequent supervisory board elected
as members or associate members the following companies : Rochas,
Roland Mouret, Shiatzy Chen and Vanessa Bruno.

This
November will see the seventh unique exhibition and sale of Frimousse
dolls created by the world’s top fashion designers, an event
that has become unmissable in the world of fashion. Since 2003,
the greatest fashion designers and contemporary artists have worked
to create something beautiful to help children, crafting dolls that
become veritable works of art. These dolls with a big heart will
be exhibited to the public from 10 to 15 November at the Petit Palais,
the Museum of Fine Arts in Paris, then will be sold at auction on
19 November at Drouot Montaigne, Paris’s prestigious auction
house. Every year, two million children in the world still die of
illnesses through not being vaccinated. However vaccination, a method
that is both very effective and inexpensive, would prevent these
deadly diseases from a very young age and would eradicate this scourge
that affects thousands of children every day.

will celebrate next year its 25th birthday ! It will take place
from April 2010, Friday the 30th to May 2010, Monday the 3rd.

The
members of the Executive Board of the Chambre syndicale du Prêt
à Porter des Couturiers, who met on 7 May 2009, elected the
following firms as members : Kris Van Assche, Manish Arora
and Peachoo Krejberg.
The members of the Executive Board of the Chambre syndicale de la
Haute Couture, who met on 14 May 2009, elected Alexandre Matthieu
and Rabih Kayrouz as new invited members in the July 2009
haute couture schedule. The house Loulou de la Falaise is
now listed in the « fashion-accessories » section, with
Massaro, Maison Michel and On Aura Tout Vu.

Designer
Stéphane Rolland is now official couturiers and his
house have earned the right to use the haute couture designation
for their apparel. The Commission de Classement Couture Création
attributed this honor and status to Ms. Rolland following a meeting
on December 16, 2008 which thereby made them members of the Chambre
syndicale de la haute couture

DE LA MODE BY DIDIER GRUMBACH
Conference
series about “Histoires de la Mode”
A series of six conferences will take place this fall at the Musée
des Arts Décoratifs. These meetings will be organized and
hosted by Didier Grumbach, the author of the “Histoires de
la Mode” and Pamela Golbin, the curator of the fashion and
textile collections at the Arts Décoratifs. The conferences
will examine the growth of the fashion and textile trade, couturiers
and fashion designers; the transformation of the media from the
Jardin des Modes to Internet web sites ; the role of buyers at
department stores and multi-brand retailers. The conferences will
take place in 2008 on September 25, October 30,
and, November 27. Next year's dates are: February 5,

Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine, since the General Assembly
of May 21, 2008.

CRÉATEURS DE MODE
The
respective terms of president Ralph Toledano (maison Chloé)
and vice-president Jean-Charles de Castelbajac have come
to an end. After congratulating them, the members of the Executive
Board of the Chambre syndicale du prêt à porter des
couturiers et des créateurs de mode, who met on 21 March
2008, unanimously elected Guillaume de Seynes (Maison Hermès)
as president, Nathalie Rykiel (maison Sonia Rykiel) and
Ralph Toledano (maison Chloé) as vice-presidents.
During the same meeting the following firms were elected as full
or associate members:
Collette Dinnigan, Escada, Giambattista Valli, Jeremy Scott,
Jose Castro, Miu Miu.
