He was born May 30th, 1957 at Bapaume (North of France).After studying « Arts Plastiques » and Art History at the Beaux Arts, Hervé L. LEROUX decided to work in the fashion industry and started his career in hair and hat design.In 1981, he became assistant to Karl Lagerfeld at Fendi then at Chanel.In 1985, he launched his own label : HERVE LEGER and worked with Maryll Lanvin for Lanvin Haute-Couture.In 1989, he created his first « banded » dresses for which he became known worldwide.From 1995 to 1997, Hervé L. LEROUX created some of the costumes for several Roland Petit ballet productions.

In March 1999, he lost the control of the HERVE LEGER company and also the use of that name.In 2000, he opened a Couture and Ready-to-Wear boutique at 32 rue Jacob, Paris 6ème.

Since September 1st, 2004, Hervé L. LEROUX has been Artistic Director of the House of GUY LAROCHE.
