General Assembly - Fédération française de la Couture - 20 January 2011

The General Assembly of the Fédération de la Couture took place on June 15, 2010 at Laurent and:

- elected the houses Anne Valérie Hash, represented by Anne-Valérie Hash, and Dries Van Noten, represented by Sylvie Coumau, to the Supervisory Board. So they joined current board members Agnès b., Chanel, Chloé, Christian Dior, Hermès, Isabel Marant, Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier, Kenzo, Lanvin, Pierre Cardin, Sonia Rykiel and Yves Saint Laurent.

- re-elected unanimously Didier Grumbach President of the Fédération française de la Couture.

The meeting was also an opportunity to go over different initiatives spearheaded by the Fédération which allowed Paris to maintain its leadership as the capital of fashion and creativity :

I - The opening of the Haute Couture calendar not only to young designers via the “invited member” process but also to Haute Joaillerie (fine jewelry) houses.

II - The growing internationalization of women’s and men’s fashion weeks which has led to an increasing number of special events and showrooms from foreign companies. This not only makes the offer of Paris fashion weeks very rich and diverse but also gives credibility to the argument that they should be “long”.

III - The numerous measures undertaken to help young brands, including financial support (Mode & Finance investment fund, subsidies from DEFI) ; special events (Festival d’Hyères ; the Fédération’s “En Avant-Première” internet platform which shows collections online, special events abroad) or business consulting.

This General Assembly also highlighted the members’ deep commitment to launching of the 4th year of the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne’s course of study, in the context of preserving the know-how and skills of the profession. The members of the Fédération also praised the future address of the school.
